The Urhobo Patriotic Assembly (UPA), in reaction to a petition against Stella Okotete, a Ministerial Nominee, noted that she delivered her Delta Central Senatorial seat in Ughelli/Udu federal constituency seat and as well as delivered Ughelli North constituency 1 and ll to APC. Besides, they stated that the nominee contributed to over 80 per cent of the successes recorded in Ughelli North during the last elections by delivering both her constituency and her senatorial district during the last elections. “She is not only a walkaholic, a political strategist, Stella Okotete merit the appointment” the group stated.
Furthermore, they argued that those seeking for her disqualification should show Nigerians their polling units score cards for Nigerians to Judge.
Accordingly, they averred that contrary to the falsehood and misinformation spread by some Itsekiri leaders about Stella Okotete, she remains a brimming light of re-newed hope in Delta State and a shining star in Nigeria’s politics.
In a statement signed by Dr. Richmond Omoruvwie and Utuedoye Akpobrise, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the duo noted that the petitioners do not have the local standi to decide who is to be appointed by President Tinubu. According to them ” we are surprised that some of our neighbours have not imbibed the palpable change the Tinubu era has ushered in. As for ministerial appointment, Stella Okotete is most suitable and qualify for it as she really worked hard during the last election and delivered true democratic dividends to her constituency in particular and the nation at large”. Furthermore ” it is important to note that ministerial appointments are based on several factors, some of which include, intelligence, capacity, experience, political clout and a host of other factors. Stella Okotete has over the years as the Executive Director of NEXIM Bank, proven herself as a technocrat and we certainly believed that going by her track record, she is eminently qualify for whatever portfolio she would be assigned.”
The duo called on President Tinubu and the National Assembly to discountenance any call to discredit Stella Okotete describing such actions as the handiwork of evil elements who are not happy with her rising political profile.
