UPU President General Meets Former First Deputy President General Over Moving Urhobo Higher
Barrister Ese Gam Oweh, President General of the apex Urhobo socio-cultural organization, the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, an organization that is second oldest in Africa met at the weekend with the former first Deputy president general, Olorogun Anthony Onoharigho, PhD.
The meeting of the two Urhobo heavyweights highlights some lingering issues within Urhobo landscape with both men promising to meet again in the new year to work out modalities to address some of the issues that can help move Urhobo higher in the national space. Also, both men agreed to join hands together to harmonize the different shades of opinions coming from different Urhobo groups as well as unify the Urhobos in different parts of the world so that when Urhobo speaks via the UPU President general, it will represent the entire tribe, which is the forth largest ethnic tribe in Nigeria
The meeting of the duo brings to an end speculations that there was feud between the two prominent Urhobo sons who contested position of the President General with Ese Gam Oweh winning the UPU President general election in December 2023. At the recent meeting, Olorogun Anthony Onoharigho, PhD, a renowned maritime guru and Africa’s regional Director of Conarina group, a worldwide shipping classification company as well as the proprietor of Conarina Maritime Academy, Abraka, Delta State, pledge to give Ese Gam Oweh, the UPU President general, a legal luminary all the needed support that can make his leadership a huge success in the history of UPU worldwide.
