Military Releases Delta monarch, absolves him of links with Okuama killings
The Nigerian Army (NA) has confirmed the release of the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, Ovie Clement Ikolo to the Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone.
Spokesman for the Army, Major General Clement Nwachukwu said Ikolo was released because nothing linked him to the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community in Delta State.
Nwachukwu, the Army spokesman said Senator Dafinone is standing as the monarch’s surety and noted that no evidence exonerates him as yet.
It would be recalled that the traditional ruler of Ewu kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ikolo had surrendered to the police after he and several others were declared wanted by the military in connection with the killing of 17 army personnel in Okuama on March 14th.
The police handed him over to the military and since almost a month, His Royal Majesty has been in custody of the army.
Meanwhile, there has been no comment from the Army authority concerning the rest Okuama indigenes declared wanted. There is equally no comment regarding the innocent victims from Okuama who ran into the forest and now live on fruits to survive. Time will tell
