Meta Announces Monetization for Nigerian and Ghanaian Content Creators on Facebook Starting July 1, 2024.
Social media giant, Meta, has revealed that content creators from Nigeria and Ghana can now monetize their content on Facebook, starting from Monday, July 1, 2024. This exciting update introduces two new monetization features: In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels.
According to a statement released by Meta on Monday, these features will enable creators to earn money for creating original videos and building a community on the platform. Eligible creators in Nigeria and Ghana will now be able to earn money from their video and reel content, with support available in over 30 languages globally.
To utilize these monetization features, creators must meet specific requirements. They must be at least 18 years old and comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies. Additionally, for in-stream ads, creators must have a minimum of 5,000 followers.
This development follows an announcement in March by Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, who stated that the company would introduce these features in June after a meeting with President Tinubu at the presidential villa.
Meta’s initiative aims to support the growing digital economy in Africa and empower local talent to benefit financially from their creative efforts. Content creators in Nigeria and Ghana are encouraged to explore these new tools and take advantage of the opportunities to grow their brands and generate income through their content on Facebook.
