It was an Iranian mole that first informed the Israeli military of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah’s location, hours before the airstrike. This much was revealed by French newspaper Le Parisien which claimed that Nasrallah was killed in the suburbs of Beirut on Friday (Sep 28) after the Israeli Air Force dropped US-made BLU-109 bombs with JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) guidance kits.

The body of Hezbollah terror chief Hassan Nasrallah was later recovered from the site of an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday, two days after the airstrike, a medical source and a security source told Reuters.
Though Hezbollah’s statement confirming Nasrallah’s death did not say how exactly he was kille but sources said his body had no direct wounds and that it appeared the cause of death was blunt trauma from the force of the blast.
A short clip circulated later by Lebanese media outlets purported to show the moment the body was recovered from the terror group’s underground headquarters in Beirut.
Alongside the leader of the Iran-backed terror group, more than 20 Hezbollah operatives were killed in the massive airstrike in Beirut, the Israel Defense Forces noted
According to the military, among those killed at Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut were:
Nasrallah’s personal security unit.
Samir Tawfiq Deeb, an advisor to Nasrallah.
Abd al-Amir Muhammad Sablini, responsible for Hezbollah’s force build-up and Ali Nayef Ayoub, responsible for Hezbollah’s firepower.
The IDF said that Jazini and Deeb were among the closest people to Nasrallah, and as such were “a significant source of knowledge regarding the ongoing functioning of the Hezbollah terror organization and Nasrallah in particular.”
Meanwhile,Lebanon’s Hezbollah said commander Ali Karake, who a source reported had been the target of an Israeli strike on Beirut, was alive and had moved to safety.
Also, there are reports that Ibrahim Muhammad Qubaisi, who led Hezbollah’s missile division, was targeted in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Security sources said he was inside a six-story residential building which was destroyed when it came under fire in the Dahieh district.
It’s believed that five others were also killed amid a wide scale Israeli bombing in Lebanon. That number could include other senior officers in Hezbollah’s rocket branch. However, very little is known about Qubaisi but according to reports he also went by the names Abu.
Meanwhile, a new leader has been appointed to replace Hassan Nasrallah. But in a swift and decisive move, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has neutralized Hassan Khalil Yassin, the newly appointed leader of Hezbollah, less than 24 hours after killing it’s former leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Yassin, a seasoned operative, was responsible for planning and executing attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers. His ascension to leadership was seen as a strategic move by Hezbollah to maintain continuity.
Hassan Khalil Yassin was described by a foreign media as ruthless terrorist.
Curiously, Iran’s president has accused Israel of seeking a wider war in the Middle East and laying “traps” to lead his country into a wider conflict.
Masoud Pezeshkian told about two dozen media representatives that Iran doesn’t want to see the current war in Gaza and airstrikes across the Israeli-Lebanon border expanded.
He said while Israel insists it doesn’t want a wider war, it is taking actions that show otherwise. Shortly after this Iran attacked Israel with missiles. Even then, Israel’s Prime Minister, PM Benjamin Netanyahu sent a warning to Iran , saying it “made a big mistake” in attacking Israel with missiles and “will pay for it”.
The PM vowed retaliation against Iran for its missile barrage on Israel , which was launched shortly after 5:30pm on Tuesday evening of October 1, 2024. “Iran made a big mistake” Netanyahu said. The 74-year-old PM added that the missile attack was a “failure.
Even then the Israeli military has recorded the launching of about 230 projectiles from Lebanon on October 3 alone according to, the army press service reports.
Since September 23, that Israel launched Operation Northern Arrows against Hezbollah units in Lebanon, during which it is carrying out massive airstrikes against the movement’s military facilities in other to create secure conditions in Israel’s northern border areas so that tens of thousands of residents can return there, the conflict has led to more attacks. For now Israel continues to launch direct strikes against Iran sparkling worries among its allies that the conflict in the Middle East could escalate further.
How all of these conflicts, attacks and drums of war will end remain to be seen.
